POPE FRANCIS NAMED TIME MAGAZINE MAN OF THE YEAR
Announcing this year's cover story, the magazine says he is poised to transform a place that measures change by the century.
The pontiff beat off competition from Edward Snowden, Edith Windsor, Bashar Assad and Ted Cruz.
As the shortlist shows, the honour is not a judgement on good deeds, rather an indicator of how much influence a person has had in a 12-month period.
Here are the final 10 contenders for Time's Person of the Year:
Bashar Assad, President of Syria
Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder
Ted Cruz, Texas Senator
Miley Cyrus, Singer
Pope Francis, Leader of the Catholic Church
Barack Obama, President of the United States
Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran
Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services
Edward Snowden, N.S.A. Leaker
Edith Windsor, Gay rights activist
Obama was Person of the Year in 2008 and 2012. Only one person, Franklin D. Roosevelt, has won the award three times since it was created in 1927.
The award is given to the person who the magazine feels has most heavily influenced news in the past year.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW FROM OBASANJO'S LETTER
The Premium Times said the content of the letter explained why Obasanjo was angry and frustrated with the position of the country under the leadership of President Jonathan.
Read the 10 things we got from the letter below:
1. Obasanjo claimed he was told by President Jonathan he will spend only a single term.
"Up till two months ago, Mr. President, you told me that you have not told anybody that you would contest in 2015. I quickly pointed out to you that the signs and the measures on the ground do not tally with your statement. You said the same to one other person who shared his observation with me. And only a fool would believe that statement you made to me judging by what is going on. I must say it is not ingenious. You may wish to pursue a more credible and more honorable path."2. The broken promises by President Jonathan casts him as a man without honor.
Obasanjo said it was "fatally morally flawed" for Mr. Jonathan to contest in 2015, Mr. Obasanjo added, "As a leader, two things you must cherish and hold dear among others are trust and honour both of which are important ingredients of character. I will want to see anyone in the Office of the Presidency of Nigeria as a man or woman who can be trusted, a person of honour in his words and character."3. Bamanga Tukur is just the 'sacrificial lamb' in the ongoing PDP crisis threatening to tear the party apart and President Jonathan is solely responsible for PDP's troubles.
Obasanjo said apart from using party chairman Bamanga Tukur to cause multiple crises and divide the ranks of the party, the president's failure to keep a promise he made not to seek a second term is also generating tension within the ruling party.4. According to Obasanjo, President Jonathan has been found guilty of 'misplaced allegiance' towards PDP.
"It would be unfair to continue to level full blames on the Chairman (Tukur) for all that goes wrong with the party," Mr. Obasanjo said. "The chairman is playing the tune dictated by the paymaster (Jonathan). But the paymaster is acting for a definitive purpose for which deceit and deception seem to be the major ingredients.
…supporting opposition parties' candidates in governorship elections in Lagos, Ondo, Edo and Anambra states at the detriment of PDP's own candidates –, and of pitting party members against one another, the ex-president said.5. Obasanjo accused President of not tackling the Boko Haram menace head on, advising Jonathan on ways to handle this security problem.
Mr. Obasanjo urged Mr. Jonathan to adopt a carrot and stick approach in dealing with the insurgency explaining that "conventional military actions based on standard phases of military operations alone will not permanently and effectively deal with the issue of Boko Haram".6. From the opinions of Obasanjo, President Jonathan is all about his own Ijaw tribe.
"For you to allow yourself to be "possessed", so to say, to the exclusion of most of the rest of Nigerians as an "Ijaw man" is a mistake that should never have been allowed to happen. Yes, you have to be born in one part of Nigeria to be Nigerian if not naturalized but the Nigerian President must be above ethnic factionalism. And those who prop you up as of, and for 'Ijaw nation' are not your friends genuinely, not friends of Nigeria nor friends of 'Ijaw nation' they tout about.7. President Jonathan is allegedly training snipers and placing over 1000 Nigerians on political watch list.
"To allow or tacitly encourage people of 'Ijaw nation' to throw insults on other Nigerians from other parts of the country and threaten fire and brimstone to protect your interest as an Ijaw man is myopic and your not openly quieting them is even more unfortunate.
Two Ijaw men, ex-militant Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, and a former federal commissioner for information, Edwin Clark, who carries himself around as the political godfather of the president, are known to talk down on people opposed to the president.
Mr. Obasanjo also accused Mr. Jonathan of placing over 1000 Nigerians on political watch list and "training snipers and other armed personnel secretly and clandestinely acquiring weapons to match for political purposes like Abacha and training them where Abacha trained his killers".8. The presidency is assisting a murderer to evade justice. The angry ex-president wrote:
"Presidential assistance for a murderer to evade justice and presidential delegation to welcome him home can only be in bad taste generally but particularly to the family of his victim," Mr. Obasanjo said. "Assisting criminals to evade justice cannot be part of the job of the presidency. Or, as it is viewed in some quarters, is he being recruited to do for you what he had done for Abacha in the past? Hopefully, he should have learned his lesson. Let us continue to watch."9. Obasanjo called on the National Assembly to take quick action on the recent allegation in the country that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation failed to remit billions of dollars in proceeds of crude oil sales to the federation account.
He wrote: "This allegation will not fly away by non-action, cover-up, denial or bribing possible investigators," Mr. Obasanjo told the President. "Please deal with this allegation transparently and let the truth be known.10. The ex-president is prepared for any criticisms his letter to the presidency and even prepared to 'give his life' to fight a cause.
"The dramatis personae in this allegation and who they are working for will one day be public knowledge. Those who know are watching if the National Assembly will not be accomplice in the heinous crime and naked grand corruption. May God grant you the grace for at least one effective corrective action against high corruption which seems to stink all around you in your government."
Knowing what happens around you most of which you know of and condone or deny, this letter will proke cacophony from hired and unhired attackers but I will maintain my serenity because by this letter, I have done my duty to you as I have always done, to your government, to the party, PDP, and to our country, Nigeria…," Mr. Obasanjo said.Well, that is summary
"I have passed the stage of being flattered, intimidated, threatened, frightened, induced or bought… Death is the end of all human beings and may it come when God wills it to come."

Primary School pupils Mourn Mandela
The pupils, who assembled at the Port Harcourt City Centenary Model Primary paid tribute to Nelson Mandela especially for his contributions in education.
A primary five pupil of Port Harcourt Centenary Primary school, Armstrong Braide said Nelson Mandela changed the course of history in South Africa by enlightening them on the importance of education.
He stated that Nelson Mandela's popular quote on education clearly shows the huge importance the great African leader placed on education.
This famous quote; "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world", was made by Nelson Mandela, he said.
He also recalled Mandela's quote that, "what counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the significance of the life we lived".
The lad said the quotes "shows the huge importance Mandela placed on education. Nelson Mandela changed the course of history of his country by enlightening them on the importance of education. Nelson Mandela was also a symbol of unity, love, passion and hope for Africa and the world at large.
"Mandela's legacy affected many of us positively because our leaders adopted the message of change being preached by Nelson Mandela", he said.
Armstrong Braide also said that some African leaders have adopted the legacies left by the former South African President.
He stated that "Nelson Mandela was a symbol of hope, love and unity in Africa. Nelson Mandela was also a symbol of unity, love, passion and hope for Africa and the world at large.
"Mandela's legacy affected many of us positively because our leaders adopted the message of change being preached by Nelson Mandela.
"In Rivers State, our Governor Rt.Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who understands the need to change the world through education, has given us free education", he stated.
Another pupil, Chioma Okeke, a primary five pupil in one of the Model Primary Schools, described Nelson Mandela as a great leader who fought for the liberation of his country.
Similarly, a primary six pupil from Port Harcourt Centenary Model Primary Itubo Etire described Nelson Mandela as a freedom fighter who brought democracy to South Africa.
The Commissioner for Education Rivers State, Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi stated that the legacies of the former South African President, Nelson Mandela would inspire the children to become good leaders.
The Commissioner also commended the teachers for teaching the pupils about the life of Nelson Mandela.

African Legend, Mandela dies at 95
"He is now resting … he is now at peace," a sombre Zuma said. "Our nation has lost its greatest son."
Mandela bent history towards justice, says Obama
America's first black president Barack Obama Thursday mourned Nelson Mandela as a "profoundly good" man who "took history in his hands and bent the arc of the moral universe towards justice."
Obama — who met the former South African president briefly only once in 2005, but was inspired to enter politics by the anti-apartheid hero's example — paid a somber heartfelt tribute within 45 minutes of Mandela's death being announced.
"We will not likely see the likes of Nelson Mandela again," Obama said in a televised statement, hailing his political hero for his "fierce dignity and unbending will to sacrifice his own freedom for the freedom of others." Obama said Mandela, in his journey from a
"prisoner to a president," transformed South Africa and "moved all of us."
"He achieved more than could be expected of any man."
"Today he's gone home and we've lost one of
the most influential, courageous and profoundly good human beings that any of us will share time with on this Earth.
"He no longer belongs to us; he belongs to the
ages." Obama recalled how his passion for change
was stirred by taking part in an anti-apartheid rally — his first ever political act. "The day that he was released from prison gave me a sense of what human beings can do when they're guided by their hopes and not by their fears," Obama said.
Mandela's fragile health overshadowed Obama's trip to South Africa in June, and there had been fears that the former South African leader would pass away while Obama was in the country.
The president decided against visiting Mandela in hospital, reasoning he would be a distraction, and met with members of his family instead.
But his entire trip became a prolonged tribute to Obama, and the president took his wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha to Robben Island, where Mandela was held in spartan conditions by the racist apartheid
regime. In one wrenching shot taken by his official
photographer, Obama was pictured in the tiny
cell where Mandela once lived, with his emotional daughter in his arms. He also walked with his family around the bleak limestone quarry on the island — off
the coast of Cape Town — where Mandela endured years of backbreaking and futile
work under the eyes of white South African guards.
White House officials have already privately indicated that Obama will be expected to travel to South Africa at some time during elaborate funeral ceremonies for Mandela, who he often referred to by his tribal name Madiba.
Obama will likely be joined on Air Force One by other key political leaders from the United States — including some of the living former presidents — who were quick to react toMandela's death with their own statements.
"I will never forget my friend Madiba," Bill Clinton said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of he and Mandela together.
"History will remember Nelson Mandela as a champion for human dignity and freedom, for peace and reconciliation," Clinton, who was president when Mandela took power, said in a
longer statement.
Jimmy Carter said that Mandela's passion for "freedom and justice created new hope for generations of oppressed people worldwide."
"Because of him, South Africa is today one of
the world's leading democracies," Carter said
in a statement.
George H.W. Bush said he had watched in wonder as Mandela forgave his captors following 26 years in jail — "setting a powerful example of redemption and grace for us all."
"He was a man of tremendous moral courage, who changed the course of history in his country," Bush senior said. George W. Bush said that Mandela was "one of the great forces for freedom and equality of
our time. He bore his burdens with dignity and grace, and our world is better off because of his example.

ASUU Latest: We cannot be Intimited says Union
on or before Dec. 4 without resolving the industrial dispute. Mr Clement Chup, the Chairman of ASUU,
the University of Abuja chapter, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that there was nothing like re-opening the universities or calling off the strike. The Federal Government had on Thursday
directed all Vice-Chancellors of the federal universities that were on strike to immediately re-open the universities for academic and allied activities. The Federal Government also directed
the universities' Pro-Chancellors and Vice-Chancellors to ensure that lecturers who resumed for work were provided with the enabling environment for
academic and allied activities. The government, however, warned that any lecturer who failed to resume on or before Dec. 4, automatically ceased to be a member of staff of the institution. It also
directed the Vice-Chancellors directed to advertise vacancies (internal and external) in their institutions.
Some parents and students, who spoke with the NAN in Abuja, expressed mixed feelings concerning the Federal Government's directive. Mr Ekpontas Uwanna,
a parent, said that it was improper for the Federal
Government to order ASUU to call off its strike in such an abrupt manner, without reaching an agreement with the union. "This is a civilised country and I think
people have been trying to sympathise with the government over ASUU strike. "'But with such pronouncement, I do not think that it is the right way that the Federal Government should handle this
matter,'' he added. Another parent, Mrs Joy Amadi,
said that it was a shame that the
state of affairs of the country's tertiary education
sector was being handled in such a
manner. "We are not in the military era; this is
democracy and any agreement
entered into by the Federal Government, be it
with anybody or association, must be kept. "Issuing threat is not the option but with mutual understanding of both parties and patience, there will be peace and harmony in the sector,'' she said. Mr Dele Oluwadayo, also a parent, said that the strike had dragged on for too long, adding that parents and students
were fed up with the industrial action. "I think that the Federal Government and the Pro-Chancellors are doing the right thing by calling for the re-opening of the universities. "But I want to say that the
Federal government should not be hard on the
lecturers. "I think ASUU is fighting for a good cause
but they should also be considerate,'' he said.
However, a student, Mohammed Aliyu, urged ASUU to abide by the Federal Government's directive. "It is better for ASUU to work with the Federal Government's terms and reference; we are tired of the strike,'' he said. Another student, Priscilla Ekoma, said that the Federal Government's directive
was not in order. "Although it is not that I am
happy that we are on strike, but it is very, very wrong
for the Federal Government to order ASUU to resume work just like that. "ASUU is making a case for all the universities in the country and an agreement should be reached, the crisis cannot be resolved via intimidation or threat,'' Ekoma said. NAN reports that all efforts to get the reaction of the ASUU National President,Dr Nasir Fagge, as at the time of filing
this report proved abortive, as he did not
pick the reporter's calls. (NAN)

Spanish Police Arrest 3 Nigerians for Forcing Mothers into Prostitution.
Five women in different Spanish cities were freed from the clutches of the gang after a long operation that began at the beginning of the year, on the basis of information from a young African prostitute, a police statement said.
In August, police rescued two little children,
one of them aged three, from an address in Valmojado, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) from Madrid. They were found in poor health and malnourished.
"They were kept locked in separate rooms… at times gagged and tied to the bed" by captors who fed them tranquilisers to keep them docile, the statement said.
"The children were to guarantee that the women paid off their 'debts' by going into prostitution and to stop them running away." The mothers were eventually found in France, where they were forced to work as
prostitutes.
The criminal gang holding them used that and other strategies to bring Nigerian women to Spain and force them to work as prostitutes, the police said.
The women were "enticed with fraudulent
promises, with false job offers or by abusing their precarious situation". They were smuggled to Spain by boat from Morocco. Once in Spain, they were sold to pimps in EU countries, the statement said.

ASUU Strike: Officials Confirms Postponed NEC meeting to Hold on Friday
University, Bauchi, Dr Lawan Abubakar has debunked media reports that the union had postponed its
National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting slated
for tomorrow. He restated that the leadership of
the Union postponed the scheduled NEC meeting at Bayero University, Kano, following the demise of
Festus Iyayi, a former President, who died last Tuesday in a motor accident along the Abuja-Lokoja
highway. A car in the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, had hit the vehicle conveying the deceased and some ASUU members, leading to
Iyayi's death. Others injured are presently receiving treatment.
Abubakar who spoke in Bauchi further denied that the striking lecturers had accepted the over N1trillion offered by the Federal Government. "There is no iota of truth in that. What the union is agitating for is
the full implementation of the 2009 agreement and nothing less," he said.
The Union has been on strike since July 1 over the 2009 agreement it reached with the Federal
Government. Its leadership has said it will deliberate on the current Federal Government's offer and take a
position after Friday's NEC meeting.

SSS Uncovers Boko Haram Cell in Kogi State
The suspects, who were being held by the SSS over the alleged plots to carry out attacks in Kogi State was led by a Ph.D holder, who lectures at the Kogi State University, Anyangba, Kogi State.
According to the SSS, spokes lady Marilyn Ogar, the five extremists were planning to attack the Igala ethnic community. The new cell, which the service
uncovered was plotting to launch violent attacks in Igala land. They include Muhammad Nazeef Yunus, 44 – Spiritual Leader and Recruitment Coordinator; Umar Musa, 37 –Head of Operations/ Instructor (Munzir);
Mustapha Yusuf (a.k.a Habib) 21, – Armourer/ Chief Courier, Ismaila Abdulazeez, 19, Foot soldier; and Ibrahim Isah (a.k.a One in Town) 22 – Foot soldier.
All the arrested persons were the natives of Kogi State and attended Islamic schools, where they were
indoctrinated by Yunus, himself a lecturer at the Kogi State University, Anyingba. He had graduated at the University of Medina and hold a Ph.D in Islamic Studies, and had been the Chief Instructor to the Boko Haram adherents, especially on the supremacy of the Sharia legal system, and on how to use the
Jihad to topple governments.
The SSS urged Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious moves and persons to the security
agencies, stressing that the war on terror was still on. "This Service in collaboration with other
security agencies will not rest on their oars until we rid our society of all criminality. We must all remember that we are not terrorists we are Nigerians," Ogar said. He said the battle against the insurgents was a must win, adding that this would be done fast as delaying was not in the best interest of
anyone. "Within few weeks we must be able to win the fight against the insurgents" calling on his men that the oath to preserve the integrity of the nation is sacred and they must continue to demonstrate absolute loyalty to the country."
He said he was happy with "the resolution of all Nigerians to deal with this issue (terrorism). Terrorism is not the way of life of Nigeria."
Iherijika argued that Nigeria is a democratic country and "anyone who is aggrieved can join any of the political parties to express their grievances," insisting that room would not be given for dissent and lawlessness.

Golden Eaglets Defender Friday Njengo Passes Away
Njengo, a regular with the Manu Garba team during the qualifying series for the 2013 CAN U-17 Championship, during which the Eaglets thrashed Niger Republic, Guinea and Mali home-and-away, was involved in an accident with team-mate Adamu Abubakar while traveling from Jalingo to Calabar for
the team's first phase of final camping for the African Championship. The accident occurred on February 3.
"This is very sad news. We had looked forward to the boy eventually recovering to be part of the team again as the squad progresses to the next level. It is a thing of sorrow to lose such a huge talent this way,"
NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa
Amadu, said on Tuesday.
While Njengo sustained head injury in the accident, goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar was luckier and was discharged after a few days. NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who was at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, had ordered that Njengo be moved
from the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo to the National Hospital, Abuja two days after the crash.
At the National Hospital, an operation was
performed on the player and he was thought to be recovering, though still suffering from memory lapse, until his death on Sunday night.
The Nigeria Football Federation stated on Tuesday that burial arrangements would be announced after consultations with the family.
May his Soul rest in Peace.

The Vagina Stadium: Qatar's 2022 World Cup Multipurpose Stadium
This is actually a virtual rendering of
the fully air conditioned 40,000-capacity Al-Wakrah stadium which will be completed by 2018.
The architects are a little embarrassed that their design looks kinda like a vagina. They said the multi-billion dollar stadium is designed to resemble the sails of a dhow boat which is traditionally used for pearl fishing by Qataris...and not a vagina!
Hilarious isn't it

New Technology Preview
RAM
The new version enhanced memory direct read and write tests. It can reflect the influence of memory to overall system performance better by test the reaction speed of data flow through memory write and read. Memory capacity affects system performance to a certain extent. When the capacity exceeds a certain (1G or above), however, the impact on system
performance is limited then. Thus, a larger memory will still not get extra scores.
2D Scene
2D test of old versions has low graphics requirements. The brand new 2D test code redesigned difficulty for 2D test in the new version. It supports more 2D rendering, particle effects and it has higher requirements for GPU, which can show 2D game performance better.
3D Scene
The first time we adopt OpenGL ES 2.0 technology. 3D test has very high requirements for GPU computing performance which including the effects of light / particle system / polygon, etc. If you have used AnTuTu 3DRating Benchmark, then you may find that in the fixed 1024×2048 resolution, there is no graphics chip has got more than 30fps yet. However, we use the device standard resolution in AnTuTu
Benchmark. The reason for using the standard resolution is in order to reflect the real gaming
performance better. Because game will only run on standard resolution under normal circumstances.

Subject: Nigeria Defeats Ethiopia to become 1st African Team to reach 2014 World Cup
Nigeria became the first African side to reach the 2014 World Cup after a 2-0 victory over Ethiopia in Calabar confirmed a 4-1 aggregate play-off win. Victor Moses coolly slotted home a first half penalty before substitute Obinna Nsofor slammed home a
late free-kick to see Nigeria through to their fifth World Cup finals in six attempts.
Efe Ambrose had the first Nigerian shot in the opening moments after Brown Ideye had broken into the Ethiopian penalty area, but the Celtic defender's effort was wild and high. Sisay Bancha then produced a wonderful double save after a seemingly innocuous
throw-in by Ahmed Musa reached Emmanuel Emenike in space inside the Ethiopia penalty area. His shot was stopped and Moses' follow up was turned behind for a corner by the Ethiopia No1.
The game then turned in Nigeria's favour as Musa received the ball on the Nigeria left and attempted a cross. Aynalem Hailu – the defender who conceded a last-minute penalty in Addis Ababa – jumped to block and was adjudged to have handled the ball. Moses
stepped up, and scored an almost identical penalty to Emenike's first leg effort, passing the ball into the bottom right-hand corner and sending Bancha the wrong way.
It was Moses' third penalty against Ethiopia in 2013, having scored two spot kicks against the Walya Antelopes at this year's Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Ogenyi Onazi then received the ball on the Nigeria right and whipped in a cross to the back post, but Ideye headed wide of the goal. The two combined again just before the interval, with Onazi's shot from distance parried by Bancha, and Ideye hitting his
follow-up over the bar.
Salahdin Ahmed found himself free of the Nigeria defence after the break, but the in-form Vincent Enyeama rushed off his line to smother the ball before the Ethiopia No7 could get his shot away. Emenike then sprinted in behind the Ethiopian defence after a through ball by Onazi, but Bancha was quickly off his line to thwart the Fenerbahce
frontman.
The match ended 2:0 in favour of Nigeria thus booking their place at next Summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Unemployed Graduate Attempts Suicide in Kwara State
Kwara state has another reason to be thankful.
The 29-year-old University graduate who battled unemployment for years decided to end it all last week at a secluded location.
Over her battle with unemployment, Esther was said to have gone to a secluded location last week Thursday to hang herself but was intercepted by one Alhaji Akeem Mustapha, who was said to have gone there to inspect a building site.
When asked why she wanted to take her life in
such manner, Esther responded that she got tired of looking for a job to no avail.
"I am from a poor background. My father is aged while my mother is no more. I struggled to see myself through school, but because I am indebted to the institution to the tune of N15,000, I have been unable to collect my certificate", she said.
Reacting to the incident, the Permanent
Secretary in the Ministry of Social Development, Culture and Tourism Samuel Osuolale Ajayi, said youths should be creative by exploring their inert potentials for economic gains instead of resorting to suicide which he said is a criminal offence.
He added that the ministry would rehabilitate
Esther, a graduate of Health Information Management from the University.
This is what many qualified graduates are going through in Nigeria today.
Hope the government can do something to help
them out.

Husband Absconds as Wife gives Birth to Triplets
Odo told the News Agency of Nigeria in Nsukka on Friday that her husband, Mr.John-Patrick Odo, disappeared when he realised she would give birth to triplets."It's been seven days since I put to bed, yet I
have not seen my husband. Several attempts to reach him through his telephone have failed as he switched off his mobile phone.
"I know he has no job but that should not be the reason for him to abandon me and the babies," she said of her husband of three years.
Odo appealed to the government and good
spirited individuals to come to the aid of the triplets, saying they required a lot of care to survive having been born pre-term.
"I will be very grateful to all who offer
financial help to me and my babies at this
difficult moment," she said.

Covenant University Develops Software that Checks illegal Arms Detection.
The software is known as the "Radio Frequency Identification (RID) Enabled Ammunition Depot Management System''.
It was on display at an exhibition organised
by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Research and Development centre to showcase NAF's efforts in equipment maintenance and management, in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the institution, Prof Aderemi Atayero, who presented the product, said the software had a human tracking capability and could be useful to security agencies in the country.
Atayero said the software was developed at the university in August and was the result of the institution's efforts in the area of research and development.
According to him, the technology is already in
use at the university to track the movement of staff and other key members of the university community.
In her remarks at the event, the Minister of Communication Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson, reiterated the commitment of the present administration to support innovations by the nation's armed forces.
Johnson said that the modernisation and re-
equipping of the armed forces were of top priority to the present administration, hence its emphasis on training and re-training of its personnel.
According to Johnson, the acquisition of new and modern platforms for the armed forces and training of its personnel to handle such platforms, clearly explained government's commitment to the armed forces.
The minister said the effort to develop local capacity to maintain some of the platform and equipment was a welcomed development and should be emulated by other agencies of government.
Earlier, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, said the exhibition was put together by the reinvigorated NAF Research and Development Centre to encourage its internal mechanism for repairs and
maintenance of its equipment and aircraft.
He said that the new approach was adopted to address challenges associated with the rising cost of aircraft maintenance.
According to Badeh, NAF cannot afford to be dormant, it must strive to remain relevant even as the cost of maintenance of its platforms and equipment continue to increase.
Badeh called on other agencies of government and research institutions to collaborate with NAF to achieve its mandate in spite of the dwindling resources allocated to it.
The six commands in the Nigeria Air Force
and its Kaduna-based Institute of Technology
showcased some of their research works at
the event. The Training Command, Tactical Air Command and the Logistics Command took the first,
second and third positions respectively at the end of the exhibition assessed by some experts.
The event was attended by the Supervising Minister of Defence, Mr Labaran Maku, some
legislators, service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police.
Other institutions that participated at the
one-day exhibition included, the University of
Lagos, Federal University of Technology, Minna and the Covenant University, Ota.
The rest included, NigComSat and the
Nigerian Air Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). (NAN)

Top 4 Best Android Phone Trackers
Like the saying goes, they say no one is above mistakes and so no matter how careful you think you might be, losing your belongings especially your smartphone is very likely.
No matter how careful you are or how much you pay attention to your phone, there are chances of it getting lost. If you own a expensive and high end smartphone, it's bound to attract attention, even of the wrong kind.
Even though newer Android phones have a remote lock and locate facility available, it might not work as intended, so it's recommended to get a good Android device tracker app. You'll find hundreds of such apps
on the Google Play Store, but only a few of them really work well and are free, so here's a list of the top 4 free Android device tracker apps!
TOP 4 ANDROID TRACKER APPs.
1. ANDROID LOST
Android Lost is one of the most recommended apps in the security category, and for good reason. Once set up, you can control and locate your phone via a web portal or SMS. Features include remote location, data wiping, service start/stop, call list logs, alarms and much much more. Best part is, it's completely free,
so you don't have to worry about paying to get the best features!
2. WHERE's MY DROID
One of the oldest Android device tracker apps on the market, Where's My Droid is still going strong. The free version lets you locate your device, notifies on SIM change and keeps phone tracking active without draining battery. If you want to do stuff like remotely lock the phone or wipe data, you'll have to get the Pro version. One of the best features in the Pro version is the ability to activate the app via landline, great if you can't access another mobile phone.
3. PREY ANTI-THEFT
Not the most well known of apps, Prey Anti-Theft is quickly turning out to be one of my favorite Android tracker apps. Combining a great UI and easy to use functions, it should help you track down your phone in no time. Apart from the usual geolocation features,
Prey Anti-Theft also takes pictures of the person/people your phone is with from both cameras, lets you display a custom message on the screen and plays a loud alarm sound when triggered even if the phone is on silent. The paid version unlocks even more features such as unlimited device tracking, reports and real
time logs.
4. LOOKOUT ANTI-VIRUS
Lookout isn't only a tracker app, it's also an antivirus. So apart from standard location features, it takes pictures of the person using the phone and sends out a "Signal Flare" when the battery is low, plus saves the phones last location. The added ability to backup data is useful. More features like remote lock and erase come with the paid version, as well as additional backup and privacy control.
Have you ever lost an Android phone and recovered it? Do let us know your experiences and if you
think other apps should be added to the list!.
